Dr. Robin Silver's calls usually consist of people complaining about his group's pro-environmental activities. So when the founder of the Southwest Center for Biological Diversity received a call last week from Don Henley at his Phoenix home, you can imagine his surprise. "I said, 'The only Don Henley I know was head of the Eagles, and he would never be calling someone like me,'" silver said. Henley had seen a story about the center in the Dallas Morning News and wanted to help. Within a week, he organized a fund-raiser that consists of him in two concerts on March 9 at Union Hall in Phoenix, with special appearances by Stevie Nicks, Bruce Hornsby, fellow Eagle Timothy B. Schmit and Roger McGuinn, formerly with the Byrds. "His knowledge of environmental issues was very impressive; it was just like talking to an environmentalist," Silver said of Henley. "Only he can sing," added Danny Zelisko, the producer who is helping to organize the event. Considering the intimacy of the hall (2,000 seats) and the fact that it is a fund-raiser, the prices are reasonable at $36. and $51. Tickets go on sale Monday at Dillard's outlets, 503-5555.
