Fleetwood Mac Back Where They Belong: At Number One
BURBANCK, Calif., Aug. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- "The Dance", the long-awaited reunion album from the superstar lineup of Fleetwood Mac -- Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, Christine McVie, Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham -- has rocketed to Number One on the "Billboard" Album charts in its very first week of release.

Featuring the smash single, "Silver Springs," "The Dance" was released on the 20th anniversary of the group's best-known album, "Rumours," which made the Number One slot its home for 31 weeks in 1977.

Fleetwood Mac's record-breaking return to the spot also includes an extensive U.S. tour beginning in September (with virtually all dates having sold out within hours of concert tickets going on sale.) The group's appearance at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, for example, now stands as the fastest selling event in the history of that legendary venue.

Commenting on the phenomenal response to "The Dance," Reprise Records President Howie Klein remarked, "We had very high expectations for this album from the beginning, but its performance has exceeded even our most optimistic projections. What makes its leap to the top of the charts even more remarkable is the fact that due to the UPS strike, many stores were unable to stock the album immediately. In some places, people really had to search it out, and the reason they did has everything to do with the immediate, emotional response this music brings out in everyone that hears it. That, in itself, is a good indication that 'The Dance' is going the distance."
