Reviews of "The Very Best of Fleetwood Mac" Release Party

This is a fan party to celebrate the release of the album. It took place at Omega Club in DC.

I was fortunate enough to be able to attend "The Very Best Of Fleetwood Mac" promotional party in Washington DC on October 12, 2002! Wow, it was quite a night! So many feelings-- and some of them were because of the road trip to Washington DC. My friend Mo and I drove southward on I-95, passing by Silver Springs, realizing Stevie named a song after that very town, "because it sounded like a pretty fabulous place."

A very sick and demented person has brought a lot of heartache to our nation, and that very special place. Our thoughts and prayers are with the people, families and friends of those who have been hurt and killed from this whole area.

We were relieved to just arrive. We were welcomed by many Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac fans-- and some very incredible music! October 12 happened to be the day that the "Tusk" album was released to the world; so, along with celebrating the new album, we were clearly celebrating "Tusk"'s birthday! Stevie's song "Sara" got a special "spotlight" on two really fabulous birthday cakes made for the occasion.

There were flowers on either end of a long table: roses and sunflowers for some special friends' birthdays-- and also in honor of Stevie Nicks. There were some gorgeous Fleetwood Mac and Stevie Nicks posters and pictures, as well as a few Top Hats, and tambourines throughout the room. Brand NEW copies of the new "The Very Best Of Fleetwood Mac" were awarded to attendees as their names were pulled out of a hat. A few fortunate people also received mini posters and window clings of the new album.

I saw some people receive other Fleetwood Mac and Stevie albums, as well-- "Rumours," "Fleetwood Mac LIVE," and "Fleetwood Mac" (self titled, 'the white album') were all represented, as was Stevie Nicks' "Bella Donna," "Wild Hearts," "Rock A Little," "The Other Side Of The Mirror" and "Trouble in Shangri-La." They even gave out a few copies of "The Dance, DVD"! I hadn't ever been to a promo gathering before, but if there is going to be one for Fleetwood Mac's NEW album (4/03?), "Save Me A Place." :o)

This promo party definitely gave some serious grass roots exposure for Fleetwood Mac, as not everyone in attendance were fans! Many other videos were played, but clearly the evening was dominated by Fleetwood Mac. The highlight of the night for me was just being able to enjoy some crystal clear videos and wonderful music with some very special friends. Let's do it AGAIN!

Here are just some of the some of the songs that were featured:

I had a terrific time at the Omega Club’s “The Very Best of Fleetwood Mac” promotional party. What a feeling to walk into a club and hear something beautiful and familiar. The music of Fleetwood Mac. A large, excited crowd had turned out to welcome the new Fleetwood Mac release. There were videos, there was cake, there was music, there were birthdays, and there were fans. There was a VJ who treated us to such video gems as “I Can’t Wait.” “Gypsy” “Hold Me” “Big Love” “The Chain (from the mirage video)” “If Anyone Falls” and my favorite, the beautiful “Rooms on Fire.” Seeing the videos made me long for the day when they are released on DVD. The heavily Stevie flavored music had everyone in the place dancing, swirling, and celebrating the new ‘Very Best of Fleetwood Mac’ release. A special thanks to VJTre for a wonderful night of great music from old friends. I look forward to the next Fleetwood Mac new release celebration party. I had a time! - Keith, Washington, D.C.

I just want to thank everyone who attended "The Very Best of Fleetwood Mac" CD release party last Saturday, Oct. 12th at Omega DC. I've been VJing for about 2 years now and I couldn't wait for the day I would get to host an official Fleetwood Mac/Stevie Nicks party at the club. Our music format usually is more dance and pop oriented, but it was great to have a breath of fresh air. I wasn't sure what to expect, but a lot of fans showed up and I couldn't have been more pleased. We had cakes, candles, flowers and framed Stevie posters on the walls. It was definitely a festive atmosphere filled with lots of fans and great Mac and Stevie music videos. For those that couldn't make it this time, mark you calendars for April. I'll most likely have another release party for the new CD. What a great way to start our 2003 Fleetwood Mac summer eh? I hope to see you all there.
Travis (VJ Tre) :-)
