Review of Enchanted

Stevie Nicks, Enchanted () - Singer/songwriter Stevie Nicks shows the best of her best on this three CD box set (Arista, $44) that spans her career, but centers on her work outside of Fleetwood Mac. The queen of all gypsies reached deep into her closet to include Long Distance Winner, first released on 1973's Buckingham Nicks, and her duets with Kenny Loggins, Whenever I Call You Friend, and John Stewart, Gold, in the set. But points are deducted for ignoring her best Stewart collaboration: Midnight Wind. Songs originally released only on soundtracks are now under one Nicks compilation, including Sleeping Angel from Fast Times at Ridgemont High and Violet and Blue from Against All Odds, making this set a must for any Nicks collector. Other highlights: A remake of Tom Petty's Free Fallin' and previously unreleased live versions of Edge of Seventeen and Gold and Braid. Now this is what a box set should be. - David M. Deal
