Stevie Nicks Gets Helping Hands From Crow, Etheridge & McLachlan On New Album

(2/13/01, 1 p.m. ET) - Sometime Fleetwood Mac frontwoman Stevie Nicks is poised to release Trouble In Shangri-La, her first solo album since 1994's Street Angel. The album is slated for a May 1 release, and Nicks tapped some industry friends--including Sheryl Crow, Melissa Etheridge, Macy Gray, Sarah McLachlan, and Dixie Chicks singer Natalie Maines--to lend a hand with everything from songwriting and production to backing vocals.

The album was produced by a team that includes Crow, Etheridge, John Shanks (whose worked with Etheridge), and Pierre Marchand (who has produced five albums for McLachlan). McLachlan lends her lilting vocals to the track "Love Is," while Crow plays guitar and sings on "Sorcerer," a song she co-wrote with Nicks. Macy Gray's distinct vocals can be heard on "Bombay Sapphire," and Dixie Chick Maines adds her twangy backing vocals to "Too Far From Texas."
